    Minecraft Server Types Explained

Not sure what game mode is right for you? Here's a breakdown of the most popular Minecraft server types.

    Survival & SMP

Classic Minecraft gameplay — gather resources, build a base, survive the night. SMP servers add a social multiplayer element with shared worlds, communities, and player-driven economies.

    PvP & Factions

Battle other players in combat arenas, faction wars, and raids. Create or join a faction, claim territory, and dominate the server through strategic PvP.

    Skyblock & OneBlock

Start on a tiny island in the void and expand by completing challenges. OneBlock gives you a single block that regenerates infinitely with different resources as you progress.

    Minigames

Quick, action-packed game modes like Bedwars, SkyWars, Parkour, TNT Run, and more. Perfect for short play sessions or when you want variety.

    Prison & Economy

Mine ores to earn money, rank up through prison tiers, and unlock new areas. Economy servers focus on trading, shops, jobs, and building wealth.

    Modded & Pixelmon

Experience Minecraft with mods — from tech and magic modpacks to Pixelmon (Pokémon in Minecraft). Requires a modded client to join.

    Hardcore & Anarchy

Maximum difficulty. Hardcore means permadeath — die once and you're out. Anarchy servers have no rules: no bans, no claims, complete freedom and chaos.

    Roleplay & RPG

Immersive servers with custom quests, skill trees, classes, and storylines. Roleplay servers focus on character creation and storytelling within a community.
